While I stand by my belief that the Brett Gardner-Melky Cabrera tandem in center field is a big problem for the New York Yankees, I must give credit where credit is due. Both players share the majority of the credit for tonight’s comeback win over the Minnesota Twins. Gardner went 3-3 with an inside-the-park homer, a single, and a critical triple off Twins’ closer Joe Nathan. Cabrera went 2-5, and laced the game-winning hit into the left-center field gap in the bottom of the 9th. They played exceedingly well tonight in fueling what was probably the most exhilarating win of the season thus far. The result is that much sweeter because it was my parents’ first game at the new Yankee Stadium. I couldn’t be happier that they got to enjoy it in person.
Let’s go Yan-kees.
